Another gremlin that devours focus is tabs in a software program. They are little reminders of other contexts; things you’ve not quite filed away but also aren’t quite your focus. Those reminders create just a bit of mental friction and resistance; the cumulative effect being that I can’t concentrate as long because I eventually go and look at those tabs.
